Hack Job is a hybrid cape created by Bonesaw. He is a combination of Hatchet Face and Oni Lee.
Personality
Hatchet Face was lobotomized and implanted with a metal framework to make him obey Bonesaw, effectively a mindless automaton. Oni Lee's brain was mostly intact and conscious, albeit somewhat damaged, and was able to feel everything Hatchet Face felt but was unable to control their shared body.[1]
Appearance
Hack Job looked like Hatchet Face had in life: a tall, muscled man, covered in scars, carrying a two-handled axe. On the back of his head and shoulders, however, the remains of Oni Lee were visible, tumor-like growths containing his organs and skeleton, with a face on the back of his head gasping for air like a fish.[2]
His body appeared to be rotting alive, and was patched up with flesh grafts and mechanical replacements.[3]
Abilities and Powers
Hack Job shared Oni Lee's power of clone teleportation and Hatchet Face's enhanced strength and power nullification. His power nullification was weakened compared to the original, only effective on people close enough to touch.[4]
Hack Job left behind white dust and blood splatters whenever his duplicates exploded. Bonesaw worried about physical wear and tear sustained by his body whenever he teleported.[4]
History
Background
Bonesaw combined Oni Lee and Hatchet Face's bodies after their deaths, creating a hybrid with both their powers. She used robots to conduct the surgery remotely to avoid losing her powers, and was able to tie their nervous systems together to allow them to both use their powers without interfering with the other. It took her four hours.[5]
Post-Leviathan
Hack Job accompanied Bonesaw to visit Panacea, Bonesaw's nominee for the Slaughterhouse Nine. He served as her muscle, and helped her escape when Flashbang began fighting them off.
Later, Hack Job served as Bonesaw's bodyguard during the Nine's slaughter of the Merchants.[6]
During an attack by the Undersiders and the Travelers on the Nine, Hack Job was destroyed by Sundancer.[7] Bonesaw later had plans to create another Hack Job, starting with Trickster, but was foiled before she could take him.[8]
Legacy
Bonesaw would incorporate what she learned into later projects.
